Framed Love for Kleinfeld Paper

Here's my newest collection for Kleinfeld Paper, called Framed Love. It comes in 4 color ways - charcoal (shown), chocolate, mallard blue, and olive. This one was so fun to create - I'm really enjoying playing with typography, and try to create suites for brides with my aesthetic and design sensibility. You can see the whole collection here.

Outer Space - it glows in the dark!

Last week I received a nice big package of sample yardage from Camelot Fabrics, and I took some pictures of my Outer Space fabric. This collection glows in the dark - I tested it out and it works really well! So cool.

Vita Mechachonis Returns For Seventh Year at Surtex 2013

Portsmouth, NH : With her signature blend of colorful and quirky art, Vita Mechachonis returns to Surtex for the seventh year, showcasing her newest collections of art for kids and funky adults – juvenile, holiday, birthday, novelty, floral, geometric, and everything in between.

2012 was a busy and exciting year for Vita. She helped launch premium wedding stationery company Kleinfeld Paper, a division of the world-renowned Kleinfeld Bridal family, serving as both Art Director and a featured designer. Her partnership continues with LookLoveSend, providing birth announcements, party invitations, holiday cards and more. Her fabric line with Camelot Fabrics continues to flourish, especially her glow-in-the-dark line Outer Space, and this past year saw more children’s puzzles made with MEGA Brands, available nationwide.

Among her newest collections debuting at Surtex this year are a toddler sea animal theme, elegant birds and birdhouses, Christmas, baby animals, florals, and much more. I've based it on the Kleinfeld Paper collection I did for them (you can see that here), expanded the patterns, added more, and I think it would work great for fabric and bedding. Today I was sent this photo by Camelot Fabrics, of NASA Rocket Scientists holding a stuffed rocket made from my fabric in my Outer Space collection. Cool!

Then I immediately thought of all the artistic liberties I took while drawing the space related items, and how wrong it must look to them. Heh.

So Completely Amazing!

For the better part of a year I have been working on, and have had the lucky fortune to be a part of, the launch of Kleinfeld Paper. Yes, KLEINFELD.... as in "Say Yes to the Dress", aka the world famous bridal boutique! The number one name in bridal has decided to produce their own line of wedding stationery, and I am one of the artists involved.

Not only do I create designs for Kleinfeld, but I also work behind-the-scenes, as this all came about in collaboration with LookLoveSend, so I wear my Art Director hat for not only LLS, but Kleinfeld Paper as well. What does this mean exactly? Well a lot of things - besides creating my own designs and trying to grow my own business (the Vita Mechachonis brand), for LLS and KP I also deal with our artists, approve designs, do all of their graphic design, a million other things, and most visibly - designed their website. It's a big team effort, getting a huge business off the ground, and I am so proud and excited to be able to talk about it and show everyone what we're all about. And I've learned so much in this process, about web and printing, letterpress, raised ink, SEO and more. My head is spinning, and I am working all the time.
