Wrapping Paper!

I found more of my art in Target this season - in the holiday gift wrap isle. This year I found these two prints - though the pink one is a repeat from last year. I created the art several years ago under my old representatives. With them I sold all the rights to the art (hey you gotta start somewhere) so I never know where it will pop up.

Let it snow!

We've had so much snow lately here in the northeast, that I've been inspired! Here's a print of snowmen I've been working on - and I like them so much I used one of them for my holiday card this year - thats the blue one.

Lookie what I found

I was cleaning out my spare closet yesterday and came across some old old artwork from college. Good lord. So I thought I'd share with all the world. The three color illustrations are from my junior year, and are done in cut paper. They are a series of illustrations from The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. (Love that book). I used my roommate as the model for Lucy, and a friend for the white witch. The third picture is the castle of the witch. I went through a big cut-paper phase in school (Syracuse University) and I think I kinda miss it. I like cutting out tiny pieces of paper. But looking at these works - wow I am cringing a bit- I think the shapes are still beautiful, but really they are quite stiff illustrations. Hopefully I've come a long way!

I've got birds on the brain! Here's a couple more prints I've been working on for Printsource.

give me something good to eat

Here's a few pieces that I've been working on from the sketch I posted last week or so. I'm gearing up for the Printsource show in NYC in January, so right now I'm concentrating on more individual prints, and then after the show I plan on going back and adding more to make a more cohesive group. Its kinda fun, because I'm just drawing whatever I feel like, and not worrying about how to fit everything together - that will come later. On to a new topic now!

The Doctor is In!

Here's the final color version.... final I think. I'm up in the air about the brown background, and I'm wondering if it should be white instead.

Going to the Doctor

Last week I did this sketch on the suggestion of my agent, and I'm now working on the final color version. I like the kid - he looks like he needs to be a redhead....

another page

I realized I haven't posted in awhile - shame on me- because of freelancing and also preparing for a new postcard mailing. So here's a little something that I sketched recently, which I plan on turning into a licensing collection. And of coursem 'tis the season! Got a costume yet for Halloween?

I wanna be a beach babe

Today I'm going on vacation! YogaBoy is taking me to Florida, so I'll be out of the cyber world for a week. One suitcase for clothes, another suitcase for sunscreen. This gal here is something I drew a long time ago, but she's a goodie. I'll never be that tan, but a girl can dream, right?

Doodles

I realized that I haven't posted in over a week - shame on me - so here are a few doodles I did the other day while waiting for a super huge file to save.

And hello to Emily who made my day on Friday when she told me she reads - and enjoys! - my blog! Thanks girlie!

Illustration Friday : wedding

This is part of a licensing collection I did - wedding and bridal shower themed - and I thought it works well for this weeks IF. When I think wedding, I think of blenders.

Illustration Friday : alphabets

I think the place to start is at the beginning, so here's the letter A. I am a big fan of the color green, and of course Pucci-inspired prints. This makes me want to complete the alphabet.... might be good for licensing....

Hungry!

If you've met me before, you'd realize that I'm obsessed with food. And thank God I can burn things off quickly and that I exercise, or I'd weigh 500 lbs... So here's the inside of my fridge, minus all the junk food (because, hey, in my drawn little world, I can make it look like anything I want!)

Veggie Love

I've been sketching a bunch lately of veggies - some in love, some playing games, some just hanging out. Here's one, with more to follow!

IF - Captain....of the football team

I'm not loving this one, but the idea is funny. And I want to exercise my brain so I'm glad I did this weeks topic.

Anyone know how to get your blog's header and your own picture (to the left here) to actually stay, and not be the blue square with question mark?!?!? I've been having an impossible time to get them to stay - when I load it up, it shows, but the next day they are gone. Short of reloading them everyday, I don't know what to do. I've searched Blogger help to no avail..... HELP!

Run, bunny, run!

My finished bunny illustration.... I've had rabbits on the brain since completing the Little Sister illustration, and wanted to keep going!

Little Sister

Here she is, the full color version of Litte Sister. I don't have one, I've got a little brother, but I like how this gal is a bit nutty compared to her family.

More sketches

I've also been sketching like mad lately, planning out what to work to finish, and I think I need to add some animals-in-human-situations, so here's a bunny.

In my sketchbook

I'm currently working on new pieces for my portfolio, because I'm aiming to do a mailing of postcards in a month and a half, and I want to wow! the pants off of anyone who sees my work. Here's a sketch of a piece I'm finishing up in full color right now. I'll post the finished version soon.

Illustration Friday : Emergency (a.k.a. Oh No!)

This is my first submission for Illustration Friday!

And so it begins....

My first post on my brand new blog. How delicious. Perhaps you are wondering what "Life with Sam" refers to? Well, its my life, which includes my dog Sam, a three year old mutt who's a momma's boy. On this blog I hope to chronicle the path that my illustration career is on right now, sharing new art and inspiration, and hoping for some feedback. And now, let the posting commence!
